With all of my lessons, I strive to create the best balance for each student between technique, knowledge, and personal enjoyment. I am a strong advocate of a classical approach to teaching, with an emphasis on theory, but I teach a variety of styles, including jazz and rock. Students learn best when they play music they enjoy, so I always listen to my students' responses to different kinds of music. Fortunately, my own musical preferences are quite broad, so I can usually relate to the preferences of my students.
